Vicksburg Ours — Glorious News.

As we go to press we learn by telegraph that Vicksburg has been taken. This will give great joy to all the inhabitants of this valley. It is to be regretted that we are left in suspense as to the mode of its reduction, inasmuch as throughout this region great anxiety will be felt for relatives and friends known to be attached to our corps in that quarter. The Mississippi is now ours. We have no misgivings as to the fact and will join this time in the most ultra glorification over the event. From the Gulf to Itasca, the glorious old river — so much our own, is once more all ours. We have had cannonading here for a couple of days, but we believe our people can stand a few more rounds to-day. It is a great event — almost too great to be measured.
