Rebel Civilization.

When Mr. Sumner delivered his speech on the "Barbarism of Slavery," he was soundly abused by the doughfaces for his "slanders on the South." Those who supposed he exaggerated will do well to read, ponder and inwardly digest the detail of facts which late visits to the field of Bull Run have elicited. Yankee skulls for rebel drinking cups! Isn't that good evidence of the humanizing and Christianizing effects of slavery on the social life, and of the atrocity of abolition agitation?
