BRIG.-GEN. F. S. DICKSON.
THE ADJUTANT GENERAL.
CHIEF OF STAFF.

Adjutant General's Office.
STATE OF ILLINOIS
SPRINGFIELD.

County Clerk of DeKalb County.

Springfield, Ill. June, 23, 1915.

Dear Sir: —

Enclosed find prepaid order on ticket agent of _____ entitling you to transportation from ____ to Gettysburg and return, also order for Pullman transportation ____ to Gettysburg and from Gettysburg to ____.

You will present this order to the Ticket Agent, of the railroad named in the order, who will furnish you transportation from ____ to Gettysburg and return. At ____ you will present to the Pullman Ticket Agent the enclosed Pullman transportation order and the Agent will issue you the ticket for the assigned Pullman space.

You will also find enclosed, prepaid order for Pullman accommodation on your return trip. You will note that the Pullman order for the going trip and that for the return differ in that no Pullman space is assigned in the return order. This is because it is impossible to anticipate what day you may leave Gettysburg. Therefore, as early after your arrival at Gettysburg as possible and in no event, later than twenty-four hours before you desire to start home, you will please present this return Pullman order to the Agent of the Pullman Company, who will have an office on the battlefield, and from said Pullman Agent you will secure the assignment of space and full information in connection therewith.

It is important that you leave home station in time to reach ____ your mobilizing point, not later than ____ P. M. Saturday June 28th. Special train service from this point has been arranged and this Special Train will leave ____ via ____ at ____ P. M. Saturday June 28th. It is very desirable that you conform to this schedule as it is all part of a plan involving the desirability of mobilizing the veterans from Illinois at a given point before reaching Gettysburg. I am also enclosing the credential necessary to be presented to you upon arrival at Gettysburg for admission to the Camp, and in addition thereto, a pamphlet containing general information, identification card and badge. You will find enclosed, an order on the County Clerk of your County for the $10 expense money to which you are entitled under the provisions of the Gettysburg Law.

This sum of $10.00 has been transmitted by me to your County Clerk by check payable to his order and bearing on its face a statement that it is intended for you.

Very truly yours,
F. S. Dickson
The Adjutant General.
