Suspension of the State Register.

Close upon the heels of the dissolution of the Democratic party, we have the announcement of the suspension of the organ of that party in this city. The fact was briefly announced in the Register of yesterday morning as follows:

PUBLICATIONS SUSPENDED. — After this issue, the publication of the Register will be suspended, until arrangements now in contemplation shall be effected. It is hoped the suspension may be of but brief continuance.

Unalterably and eternally opposed as we are to the principles which the Register has advocated with a zeal and persistency worthy of a better cause, we have no disposition to rejoice over the necessity which compels this step on the part of its mangers. We shall rather hope to see it revived under more favorable auspices and doing loyal service in the cause of freedom and Union, now rendered secure by the result of the recent elections.
